Co-Founders

  • Alyssa Avery

    Alyssa Avery has been playing violin for two decades. She graduated from Webster University with a Bachelor's in Music with an emphasis in Jazz Performance. She has become known as one of the most versatile violinists in the area. She regularly performs with a klezmer band, jazz ensembles, in pit orchestras, while touring nationally with her modern folk trio Mt. Thelonious and hip-hop producer tristaño. She previously taught fiddle classes at the Folk School and currently teaches improv, fiddle styles, student ensembles and private lessons.

  • Sarah Vie

    Sarah Vie is a musician and educator in the city of St. Louis. After earning her teaching certificate and a Masters in Music Education from Boston University, Vie has devoted herself to developing the talents of her Orchestra students in the Ritenour School District while maintaining a private violin and piano studio. In recent years, Vie has played with bands The Leonas and 18andCounting & The Only Ensemble and collaborates with other artists in multiple genres and styles.

  • Ranya Iqbal

    St. Louis cellist Ranya Iqbal maintains a busy performance schedule and an eclectic mix of musical output. She performs regularly with Union Avenue Opera, Winter Opera, the Metropolitan Orchestra of St. Louis, and Stages St. Louis. Additionally, she is a founding member of the Zafira String Quartet, the first and only full electric string quartet in St. Louis. Currently, she plays full time with the 314 Quartet in local St. Louis candlelight concerts. She is also the principal cellist and co-founder of the conductor-less chamber orchestra, the St. Louis Chamber Soloists. In addition to orchestral and chamber work, Ranya loves collaborating with local musicians in special concerts and on albums. She regularly records as a session cellist in many of the St. Louis recording studios.
